Is a second door required if you have an interior garage entrance? I live in Quebec. Our foyer has a door to the garage (steel, sealed, auto-closing), and also another interior door to the rest of the home. I other words, there is a door between the interior garage door and the rest of the house. I want to remove this door to open up the foyer. Does anybody know if this second door is required by code? I don't think it is, provided that the interior door accessing the garage is to code, but it would be nice to know for sure. I can't find the relevant code information online. I will probably end up calling a code official but thought I'd try here anyway!
How do I remove a knob on an interior door? I've hit a snag and could really use some help. The pictures on this site show basically my exact latch-style knob: http://www.wikihow.com/Replace-an-Interior-Doorknob However between step 4 and 5 they don't show how to get the metal rod out of the middle. I'm afraid of damaging the door at this point if I just start hammering at it. Any help would be most appreciated! I've removed several door knobs in my life, but this one is tricky. I've taken off both knobs, but if you look at the link the knobs are off and the rod is still there. I can't get it out. There are no more screws to remove. Normally the middle rod is connected to one of the handles.
Measuring for a new interior door? I need to replace a few interior doors (including frame and moldings) in my house. What is the right way to measure for a new door?? I know doors come in standard sizes such as: 28x80, 30x80, etc. However, when i measure my exisitng doors their width comes out to 31 3/4 inches and height 79 1/2. Would standard sized 32 x 80 fit?? Also, i have to measure width of the wall in order to get new door frames. When measuring, width varies. At the the top of the wall its 4 1/2 inches wide, middle 4 3/4 and bottom 4 1/8. What size should i pick (lowest measuring, average of three, etc)? Thank you.

Where can I find a cheapazz interior door online? I'm looking for one of those real cheapy looking interior doors (for a bedroom or whatever) made out of 'paper-thin' paneling and hollow inside...I tried looking but can't find it. Do you know what they are 'officially' called and where I can find one online? Thanx so much!
How to remove interior door panel on C230 Mercedes? I have a '97 C230 Mercedes. While rolling up my window a few days ago, I heard a loud snap inside the door. Something is loose now, and there is a VERY annoying rattle while I drive. The window and locks all still work, so I'm not sure what it was. How do I remove the interior door panel to take a look at what's rattling? I looked all around, and didn't see any screws that I could remove. I'm assuming that the panel just pops or slides off, but I don't want to break anything by prying in the wrong place or direction. Anybody know how to get a door panel off without destroying it?
Lost the "key" to my interior door, now how do I get in? Kwikset brand interior door latch set. Handle style - not a knob type. The "key" looks similiar to the "key" used to open a can of spam - mmm spam. Anyway, it's a small diameter shaft w/ a flattened end. Looking for ways to get the door unlocked, can you help? I have tried the small flat blade screwdriver type, the wide portion of the blade is just a little to wide to fit into the keyhole. Letting you know just how small the hole is.
Is using a chisel the only way to chisel out an area to attach hinges when hanging an interior door? I'm installing some new interior doors and need to chisel the area out where the hinges will go. i'm doing a very, very poor job and getting frustrated. the doors i pull off have perfect chiseled out areas. is there a way to do this with a saw or sander or something? please remember this is my first time doing this. my husband does have an array of power tools at home, so i'm sure i'd have anything else that could be used. (he's currently out to sea or he'd have been suckered into this job!)
How to lock an interior door without ruining the doorframe? So it's come to my attention that family members are stealing my stuff while I'm out of the house. I pay board to live in the house, so I believe I'm entitled to some security. I want to attach a lock to the door, but with the minimal amount of damage to the doorframe and the actual door. Can anyone think of a way to do this?
How to fix an interior door so it shuts tight? When I close one of my bedroom doors, the door knob doesn't latch. I replaced the door knob hoping that it would work, but it didn't. Any suggestions on to fix this problem? It looks like the latch does align with the catch. There is no gaps in the door and in high humity when the wood swells, we would have to pull the door hard in order for it to latch. Do you think rehanging the door will work?
Should I seal my interior wooden door or not?? It is a solid pine door. I stained it a year and a half ago now, a dark walnut colour. I have been meaning to seal it, as everyone has told me that it is best to do that. but......I have also recently heard that it is not best for an interior door necessarily because it will not allow the door to breathe and it is really not necessary. But I am confused because I thought when I stained it that it already had closed the pores in the wood. Because before I stained it the door smelled like fresh pine. But i after I stained it , it didnt. I was told that the stain had sealed the pores. I do like the way the door looks now, but was told that sealer would make it look nicer and richer. But i was told that if it is not exposed to wet or direct sunlight ,that it really wasnt necessary to seal it and preferable really to not. Which would be your preferance and why? Why?
What color hinges should I have for an interior door? I am going to replace my ugly gold door knobs with either oil rubbed bronze or nickel ones. I have a feeling that I would like white hinges so that they just blend into the white mouldings & doors. Would you recommend white or the same color as the door knobs?
What are the steps to sealing my wooden interior door? It is a solid pine wood door, and I have already stained it a year and a half ago a dark walnut colour. I keep hearing that it is best to put a sealer on the door, but I like the flat look that it has and dont really want it to be shiny. (Is this how most all people prefer it? "shiny"?) I have heard that it is best to take a rag with some more stain on it and wipe the door down again , applying a very thin coat of fresh stain. and then after that has dried for a few hours to apply several coats of sealer, waiting a couple of hours in between. Did i remember the instructions right? anything more or different? Thanks for your answers !
What are the steps to replacing an interior door? They are 6 panel masonite hollow core door slabs (no cuts for lockset and and hinges), and I plan to keep my existing framing. I would particularly like to know the order that I should do the steps of the installation in, and the materials that I need. Thank your kindly, for your help with this. P.S. I also have to trim the length of some of the doors.
How can I rig an interior door to stay open about 6-8 inches? I want to make my laundry room door so that my cats can get in to get to the litter box, but the dog and the baby cannot. Any ideas on how to rig it to stay open about 6-8 inches, but not open anymore than that? (Obviously it needs to be something that I can easily unlatch and get in there myself!)
How do I remove an interior door knob that has no screws? I want to change the knobs on my bedroom door, but I can't get the old knob off. There are no screws on either side that I can unscrew. The only thing I managed to unscrew and remove is the latch on the side (where the protruding thing that locks into the doorframe is), but that hasn't helped at all. How can I get this doorknob off? Ok, I pushed the tab with a flat screwdriver and pulled it and it came off. So the grasping part of the knob is off, but the part that is right against the door is still stuck fast. Btw, I can't use a hammer or do anything that would damage the door because I don't want to potentially lose my security deposit. Thanks for all the helpful answers so far. I have added a picture of my (possibly broken) doorknob in its current state. [http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b281/teresis_pieces/doorknob.jpg] As you can see, still no visible screws, and I have damaged the wood on my door by attemting to pry the knob off. Any further help greatly appreciated. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b281/teresis_pieces/doorknob.jpg
How do you touch up or repair an interior door frame? My lovely cat has used the door frames of my apartment as scratching posts; I have to repair the damage without replacing the door frames and was wondering what could be done. I am not entirely sure that merely painting over the damage will do the trick since they are rather deep scratches. Thank you all in advance!!
Any interior door lock suggestions? Hi, we are about to hire a house-sitter, but want the master bedroom to be off-limits. We do not it to be too obvious, like big deadbolts or padlocks, but also do not want to have to change out the door handle.... Does anyone know of or recommend a product that will allow us to lock our bedroom from the outside so she cannot gain access? Thanks!
Advice on sealing a wooden interior door? I have a solid wooden door that is made out of pine. I stained it a dark walnut colour about a year and a half ago. I have yet to put a sealer on it, but I do like the flat look to it, and I am not sure if I want to put a sealer on the door, but many have told me that it is very good to do so. Can you explain to me why? And is their a sealer that will not make the door shiny looking , as I , again like the flat look, and dont think I want it to be "shiny"?
